Resumé

På baggrund af en kritisk diskussion af Ritzers McDonaldiseringsteori argumenterer artiklen for, at de bærende tendenser i dansk politis udvikling i de senere årtier har været idealerne om effektivitet, beregnelighed, forudsigelighed og kontrol. Samtidig er det tydeligt, at spørgsmålet om politisk magt er det centrale, når vi taler om McDonaldisering af netop politiet, givet politiets centrale rolle i statens magtudøvelse. Som konklusion viser artiklen således, at McDonaldisering først og fremmest må forstås som en form for herredømme, der er kendetegnet ved et konsekvent skifte fra en juridisk til en økonomisk tolkning af bureaukratiets centrale kendetegn.
