Abstract

The examples given in this article attempt to elucidate some of the management conditions that Danish businesses face when they operate internationally, and to examine how businesses adapt to those conditions. The infinite variety of management and living conditions is under constant change from one country to another, and the question is whether a particularly Danish style of leadership, view of human nature and set of values determine the managerial behaviour in Danish businesses operating abroad. The article does not pretend to be an exhaustive, all-encompassing essay on this huge subject; it is an attempted incursion into time and place, including reflections and experience – others’ and own – on Danish management in a ‘globalised world’.
