Abstract

The article focuses on ‘collective business networks’ and the networking and collaborational activities going on among firms located in such environments. Collective business networks share a number of common characteristics with the well-known science parks and business incubator environments. The concept builds on firms renting office space at a reasonable price while sharing facilities, such as access to the internet, meeting rooms, canteen etc. The firms often want to share knowledge and experience, and they expect collaboration across organisational lines. The interesting aspect of collective business networks lies in the dismantling of some of the traditional organisational barriers and provides yet another example of networks where networking relations are of key importance.
