Peer review
CJAS uses a double-blind peer review process for all full-length research articles, including those published in the Emerging Scholars section. Book reviews, research notes and field reports are not externally peer reviewed; they are assessed by the journal’s editors and, where appropriate, by members of the Editorial Board.
All submissions undergo an initial editorial assessment. Manuscripts that do not conform to the journal’s submission guidelines will be returned to the authors for revision before they can proceed to peer review. The editors may reject submissions without external review (desk reject) if they fall outside the journal’s scope or are otherwise deemed unsuitable for publication.
Manuscripts that pass the initial assessment are sent for double-blind peer review. Research articles are normally reviewed by at least two independent reviewers. Reviewers provide comments for the author and recommendations to the editors. The final decision regarding publication rests with the General Editors.
